Should you brand your company vehicles? Generally speaking, yes, you should definitely brand your company vehicles! There are a number of reasons for doing so, and it doesn’t have to be a great expense. Let’s look at some of the reasons for applying your corporate brand to your vehicles and some other things to consider.
Brand Recognition. First and foremost, it’s just another way to reinforce your brand recognition. Even if your business only consists of yourself and one vehicle, that one vehicle is seen by thousands of people every time you drive it. Think of it as almost free advertising. All you have to do is put your logo on your vehicle and go about your business!
Professionalism. This particularly applies if your vehicles are used for service calls or deliveries. When your employee shows up in an unmarked vehicle, your customer won’t know who they are until they introduce themselves, and anyone who happens to see that vehicle parked nearby won’t have any idea that YOUR business is providing service there. A properly branded company vehicle addresses both of those issues and adds to the professional appearance of your employees and your business.
Keep it Clean! Your company’s brand image can be strengthened by ensuring that any vehicle that your customers associate with you or your employees is clean and tidy, in addition to being well-branded.
How old are your vehicles? Age really isn’t much of a factor, in fact, we have seen small service businesses use a fleet of intentionally antique (but very well kept) vehicles as a part of their brand identity. Condition, however, is important. Damaged vehicles with faded and mismatched paint don’t exactly scream professionalism! Of course, you might want to consider the impact of having TOO new and nice of a vehicle depending on the demographic your business primarily serves. Showing up in a brand new shiny Hummer H2 or a Cadillac Escalade to bid a landscaping project in a middle class neighborhood could send the wrong message, for example. Consider what your vehicles say about you and/or your employees.
How to brand your vehicles. Branding can be anything from a simple decal or magnetic sign to a full vehicle wrap or paint in the company color scheme. Which direction you take will depend on many factors, such as your intended market, your budget, and whether you are branding existing vehicles or purchasing new ones.
